Our Litigation Experience

Foremost, the attorneys of Farmer, Jaffe, Weissing, Edwards, Fistos & Lehrman, P.L., are aggressive litigators and trial attorneys who have a national reputation for thoroughness and success for our clients. Our attorneys are largely made up of former prosecutors who honed their litigative and investigative skills before entering private practice. All have extensive litigation experience. Over the past decade, Gary Farmer has been a part of some of the most groundbreaking litigation in Florida. Whether he was creating new law and causes of actions for subscribers wrongfully denied coverage by their HMO’s, litigating the “Butterfly Ballot” and absentee voting cases to the Florida Supreme Court during the infamous 2000 election litigation, representing consumers who were deceived by tobacco companies’ deceptive marketing practices involving light cigarettes, or representing patients, consumers and employees wronged by deceptive trade practices, Gary has consistently sought to protect the rights of consumers and helped them achieve redress for financial wrongs. Gary has also been involved in landmark pharmaceutical litigation involving injury claims of patients who ingested drugs with dangerous side-effects that were hidden by the drug companies, as well as qui tam litigation on behalf of the United States government, which resulted in a record $1.42 billion dollar settlement for illegal off-label marketing of drugs. In this record-setting settlement, Gary Farmer was one of the originating attorneys in the whistleblower suit against Eli Lilly and its drug, Zyprexa. Gary Farmer has also won a $520 million settlement of a whistleblower suit against pharmaceutical giant, AstraZeneca, over the sale and marketing of its blockbuster psychiatric drug Seroquel.

Since leaving the State Attorney’s Office, Brad Edwards has concentrated exclusively on civil trial matters, specializing in complex, multi-party cases in the fields of Commercial Litigation and serious Personal Injury and Wrongful Death. Mr. Edwards is a Board Certified Civil Trial Attorney, the highest designation of competence by the Florida Bar, and he has tried more than 75 jury trials. Despite his busy trial schedule, he provides hundreds of hours of pro bono services each year to Victims Advocate Services and victims’ rights groups in Broward and Palm Beach County and throughout the country, and due to numerous jury verdicts in excess of $1 million dollars, he was inducted as a lifetime member into the Multi-million dollar advocates forum.

Mark Fistos has prosecuted numerous cases involving consumer fraud, unfair methods of competition, the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act, deceptive trade practices, and Whistleblowers, recovering millions of dollars for the state and consumers from large telecommunications companies, marketing enterprises and corporate-owned funeral providers. As a Florida class-action and trade-practice lawyer, Mr. Fistos’ work has led to large recoveries in state and federal Class Action cases and Whistleblower cases involving national computer manufacturers, utilities, banks, and data mining companies, among others. Likewise, Seth Lehrman has litigated numerous credit-reporting and consumer-oriented cases nationwide.
