Once again, a massage therapist from Massage Envy has been arrested on sexual assault charges.  This time, James R. Deiter, a licensed massage therapist in Pennsylvania was arrested on sexual assault charges. The arrest arose from an incident on Saturday May 2, 2015 in which James Deiter sexually assaulted a female client during a massage appointment at a Massage Envy location in West Goshen, Pennsylvania. According to a published report in The Daily Local, Deiter admitted the assault and told police it was not the first time it had happened with a female client. In fact, Deiter had previously been suspended by Massage Envy supervisors for one week, when a female customer accuse him of fondling her.

James Deiter was arrested by the West Goshen Police Department and is facing both felony and misdemeanor charges in Chester County, Pennsylvania. James Deiter is married and 63 years old. “The defendant groomed the victim by providing massage therapy a number of times before sexually assaulting her. He waited until he had earned her trust over a number of appointments before assaulting her,” First Assistant District Attorney Michael Noone said in a statement.

Attorney Adam Horowitz, who has represented several women who reported incidents of sexual assault at various Massage Envy locations, stated: “Women who receive therapeutic massages place great trust in their therapists. There aren’t many other situations in which a person would be semi-nude in a prone position in a dimly-lit room with a complete stranger.  It’s a horrific betrayal when someone goes to a massage for relaxation but gets exploitation.”
